CHASSIDISHE STORY ON THE PARSHA
Rosh Hashanah With A Broken Heart
The Gemara (Rosh Hashanah:26) says that on Rosh Hashanah, we should blow with a curved shofar because, “On Rosh Hashanah, the more one bends his heart, the better.” One should feel unworthy and plead for mercy – this act of humility will help him receive good judgment.
Before starting the tekiyas, Rebbe Yissacher Dov of Belz zt’’l shouted, “Hashem! Only you know my broken heart,” and then he began Min Hameitzar and tekiyas shofar – blowing the shofar.
