Hakafos Shniyos
The festivities during Sukkos, Hoshana Rabba, and Shemini Atzeres in Belz, Yerushalayim, were joyful and uplifting.
The Belzer Rav Shlita conducted a tish on Yom Tov and each Chol Hamoed day to commemorate that day’s Ushpizin.
“Yosef’s Ushpizin” was attended by thousands from across Eretz Yisroel and beyond, and the Belzer Rav Shlita handed out “Parnassah Broit” (bread of sustenance) to all attendees.
The joyful singing and dancing during Hakafos on Shemini Atzeres filled the great Belzer Shul as thousands of Chassidim, bochurim, and children joined the Belzer Rav Shlita in spirited song and dance.
The climax of Yom Tov was the“Hakafos Shniyos” – “the Second Circling Dance”—conducted after Mincha. The electrifying dancing and divine singing reverberated throughout the Shul, a resounding finale for such a spiritual and beautiful Yomim Noraim—High Holidays season.
As is customary in Belz, the Belzer Rav Shlita conducted a “Simchas Torah Tish” in the final hours of Shemini Atzeres, which extended into Motzei Yom Tov. Yomim Noraim ‘niggunim’ (songs) were sung, and the Belzer Rav Shlita delivered the “שטייעדיגע תורה,” providing words of Chizuk – encouragement – and Bracha – blessings – for the new year.
The Tish culminated in the “נעילת החג” – closing of the Yom Tov – when the Chasidim escorted the Rav Shlita to his home with “פאקלען” – torches – with song and dance.
