בין אור לחושך
For thirteen and a half years, from ט’ שבט תש”ד (February 3, 1944) until כ”א מנחם אב תשי”ז (August 18, 1957) Belzer Chassidim in Eretz Yisroel merited to bask in the holy presence of Maran Reb Aharon of Belz zt”l. On the Motzei Shabbos before the last week of Maran’s life, Reb Aharon does not say the words “בין אור לחושך” (between light and darkness), when he recites the blessing of Havdalah. A week later on Motzei Shabbos Parshas Eikev at 3:55 AM, Maran returned his holy neshama בקדושה ובטהרה (holy and pure), while those who were assembled around his hospital bed cried out in awe: “שמע ישראל השם אלקינו השם אחד”!.
The whole of Klal Yisroel cried bitterly. Thousands of Yidden covering the entire spectrum of the various Jewish communities from all cities in Eretz Yisroel attended the levaya (funeral) on Sunday, Parshas Re’eah, escorting the holy neshama to Har Hamenuches.
