CHASSIDISHE STORY ON THE PARSHA
פרשת קרח
Parshas Korach
ואון בן פלת (קרח טז:א)
And On son of Peles.
The Gemara (סנהדרין קי) says that On ben Pelet’s wife saved him from machlokas – fights.
A Gerrer Chassid once took a son-in-law from a different Chassidus. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, the son-in-law was drafted into the army and sent to the front. His wife didn’t allow him to leave before going to the Beis Yisroel of Ger zt’’l to bid farewell and receive a bracha. Having no choice, the husband went into the Beis Yisroel and received a bracha for protection.
During the war, while on a dangerous mission, he was miraculously saved and returned home safely. He went to the Beis Yisroel to thank him for the miracle that occurred in the merit of his bracha. Before entering the Rebbe’s chambers and not yet having a chance to open his mouth, the Beis Yisroel said: “און בן פלת אשתו הצילתו” – the wife of On ben Peles saved him!
