Parshas Vayetzei
ויצא יעקב מבאר שבע… ויפגע במקום… (ויצא כח:י-יא)
And Yaakov departed from Beer-Sheva… And he encountered the place.
When the holy Yismach Yisroel of Alexander zt”l used to daven a weekday Maariv, the shul walls used to cry along with him. The holy Yismach Yisroel once explained: “Yidden come to me to discuss their hardships, asking for ideas on how to lead their lives or business. Do they think a Malach – angel – stands next to me and advises me how to respond? No! Every night during the Maariv prayers, I say “ותקננו בעצה טובה מלפניך” – Hashem, I ask of You, Yidden come to me for advice, and I ask for Your help so that I can give them the correct advice. And Hashem helps me… !”
