כי יהיה בך אביון מאחד אחיך (ראה טר:ז)

The Baal Yesod Ha’Avoda zt’’l was once walking on the streets and a wagon driver passed and asked him to come into his wagon. The Yesod Ha’Avoda didn’t want to get on the wagon,, however, the wagon driver begged and insisted he should travel with him. The Yesod Ha’Avoda acquiesced and midway asked the wagon driver why he so badly wanted to give him a ride. The Yid replied: “My ears heard from the holy Kobriner zt’’l, that a day that passes without doing a favor for a Yid, is considered a dead day!”
