CHASSIDISHE STORY ON THE PARSHA
פרשת נצבים
Parshas Nitzavim
כי קרוב אליך הדבר מאוד בפיך ובלבבך לעשותו (נצבים ל:יד)
Rather, the matter is very near to you – in your mouth and in your heart – to perform it.
A businessman complained to Reb Moshe Kobriner zt ’l about his weak earnings, while at the same time, a neighboring store that sold the same products was earning well. The tzaddik told him: “I can promise you that you can also earn plenty on one condition: When you see your neighbor earning a lot of money, you should thank and praise Hashem over it and say: ‘Hashem, praised are You, that You gave a Yid plenty of parnassah!’ Even though it may seem complicated at first to say those words with a whole heart, after saying them a few times with your mouth, they will start to enter your heart, and you will eventually tell them with a whole heart. As it says in the passuk כי קרוב אליך הדבר מאוד בפיך ובלבבך לעשותו – first say it בפיך a few times with your mouth and then it will become בלבבך – with your full heart!”
