KAPOROS EREV YOM KIPPUR

Chickens for Kaporos were brought to the home of Maran Reb Aharon of Belz zt”l a few days before Erev Yom Kippur.  Reb Aharon was careful not to eat or drink before ensuring the chickens were fed that morning. 

Before slaughtering the chicken, Maran Reb Aharon zt”l used to inspect the knife of the Shochet, saying: “I’m a maven with my eyes. Still, my father (Maran Reb Yissochor Dov of Belz zt”l) could see with his eyes and fingers,” and therefore he used to inspect the knife by running his fingertip across it.
