CHASSIDISHE STORY ON THE PARSHA
פרשת כי תשא
Parshas Ki Tisa
העשיר לא ירבה והדל לא ימעיט (כי תשא ל:טו)
The wealthy shall not increase and the destitute shall not decrease.
The Divre Yechezkel zt”l of Shinov (Sieniawa, Poland) once related a story about Reb Mendel of Riminov zt”l, who blessed a Yid that he will become wealthy and this Yid became very rich. Reb Naftali Ropschitzer zt”l asked his Rebbe, Reb Mendel of Riminov zt”l, how he was able to have make this Yid become so wealthy.
Reb Mendel replied: “I blessed him with wealth. Since he gives a lot of tzedakah and performs many acts of chessed, the word “ונתנו” (which is a palindrome – it can be read both ways) – and they shall give – applies to him: the more he gives, the more they give him – from heaven – in abundance and so he became extremely wealthy.”
