Moshe spoke the words of this song into the ears of the entire congregation of Yidden, until their conclusion.

Reb Chanoch Henich of Alexander zt”l related:

“I once stood behind the door of the room of my Rebbe, the Rebbe Reb Bunim of Peshischa zt”l, and heard my Rebbe asking a question about the final words of the pasuk in Parashas Vayeilech:

וידבר משה באזני כל קהל ישראל את דברי השירה הזאת עד תומם

He wondered why the Torah says עד תמם, rather than עד תומה. According to the context of the Shirah, the word should seemingly be תומה.

I wanted to know to whom my Rebbe was asking this question. I peeked through the keyhole and saw that no one else was in the room—only my Rebbe. So I decided to answer the question.

I said: וידבר משה באזני כל קהל ישראל—Moshe Rabbeinu spoke to and taught Klal Yisroel for so long, עד תמם—until he made them whole and complete. The word תמם refers not to the Shirah, but to Klal Yisroel. Moshe Rabbeinu taught them until they were complete.

Shortly afterward, the door opened. My Rebbe, Reb Bunim, stood in the doorway, called me over, and said, ‘Henich’l, you satisfied me!’

He then handed me two apples.”
