CHASSIDISHE STORY ON THE PARSHA
פרשת קרח
Parshas Korach
וישב אהרן אל משה אל פתח אהל מועד והמגפה נעצרה (קרח יז:טו)
Aaron returned to Moshe at the entrance of the Tabernacle, and the plague had been checked.Reb Shalom Rokeach zt’’l, the First Belzer Rebbe, was once contacted by a community in a distant city requesting help, as there was a terrible sickness amongst their children. The Rebbe sent them a message that they should confirm if:
- Does the community own their Shul’s premises?
- Is it a Kosher Shul or, Heaven forbid, a Temple (e.g., built by followers of the Reform movement)?
When the answer to both questions arrived affirmative, the Rebbe replied that the whole community—men, women, and children—should gather in the Shul and recite Yekum Purkan (the prayer said after the blessings on the Haftarah).
They did as instructed, and the plague disappeared, bringing relief to the community.
