Belz & Beyond
Establishing a Building Fund
Belz Institutions in Israel’s executives met last week with the Vaad HaChinuch of Belz Yeshivos Gedolos in Eretz Yisroel for a three-day conference to discuss the future growth and development of the Yeshivos Gedolos.
During the conference, Reb Yisroel Steiner shlit׎a, Executive Director of the Vaad HaChinuch, presented data and projections indicating that, over the next five years, at least three additional yeshiva buildings will be required to accommodate the growing influx of yeshiva bochurim arriving from around the world to learn in Belz Yeshivos Gedolos throughout Eretz Yisroel.
Until now, Merkaz Mosdos Belz in Eretz Yisroel has borne responsibility for the upkeep and daily operation of the yeshivos, allocating approximately $4â5 million annually, with an additional $500,000 earmarked for building funds. In light of the projected growth, the conference concluded that an urgent fundraising goal of $20 million must be established, necessitating the creation of a new, dedicated building fund.
Following the conference, Rabbi Pinchas Lerner, Executive Director of Belz Institutions in IsraelâAmerica, and Reb Yisroel Steiner shlita met with the Belzer Rebbe shlit׎a to present a comprehensive report on the discussions, strategic planning, and proposed fundraising initiatives. The Rebbe expressed great satisfaction with the direction and depth of the planning, engaged extensively with the details, asked pointed questions, and requested to be kept closely informed of future strategic fundraising efforts.
The conference took place in Davos, Switzerland, where senior executives made a special effort to set aside time to address this critical, long-overdue agenda. Participants unanimously agreed that such strategic meetings should be held annually to ensure the continued growth, success, and development of the Belz mosdos.
