R’ Eliezer Landau a”h, a devoted Belzer Chassid, played a crucial role in Maran Reb Aharon of Belz zt’’l’s miraculous escape during World War II, repeatedly risking his own life to assist the Rebbe.
When R’ Eliezer’s daughter fell gravely ill, he rushed to Reb Aharon’s home to ask for a blessing for her full recovery. Unfortunately, it was late at night and outside regular reception hours.
Reb Aharon had already retired to his bedroom, a space no one was usually allowed. Despite this, R’ Eliezer began making a commotion, insisting that he needed to see the Belzer Rebbe. Hearing the disturbance, Reb Aharon inquired about the situation. Upon learning that R’ Eliezer was seeking an audience, the Rebbe instructed him to be allowed into his bedroom, saying, “Let him in—he helped me during the war!”
