VORT ON PIRKEI AVOS - פרק א :
Perek Aleph -
כל ישראל יש להם חלק (אבות)
Every Yid has a portion…
The Mefarshim translate “עולם הבא” to mean “עולם שאחר התחיה” – after one arises during תחיית המתים.
There was a story of a wealthy Yid who used to lend money to others with ריבות – they needed to repay their loan plus a percentage. He never gave a Yid an extra penny. When the Yid was niftar the Chevra Kedusha asked his children for a large sum of money for his plot. The children made a commotion and took the Chevra Kedusha to Din Torah, claiming that they were being overcharged because they were asking more than the regular price that others paid.
The Rav agreed with the Chevra Kedusha saying that other Yidden will wake up during תחיית המתים so they need their plot for a short while, for a lower price. But one who transgresses with ריבות won’t be worthy to תחיית המתים and therefore will need the plot for a longer time.
The תנא says: “כל ישראל” – between Klal Yisroel there are two types of people:
1) Those that “יש להם חלק לעולם הבא” – they will wake up by תחיית המתים – those are “שנאמר ועמך כולם צדיקים.”
2) Those that are “לעולם יירשו ארץ” – they will remain in the earth forever, and won’t wake up by תחיית המתים.
