VORT ON THE PARSHA
Parshas Toldos

ויאמר בא אחיך במרמה ויקח ברכתך (תולדות כז:לה)
Why did Yaakov need to receive the Brachos במרמה – in a sly way? The simple answer is that Yitzchak should think he blessed Eisav.
The question gets stronger: Why didn’t Hashem make that Yitzchak should originally bless Yaakov? Because the Brachos weren’t just meant for Yaakov, but for his children and further generations.
If Yitzchak would have intentionally blessed Yaakov, then the Brachos would be for Yaakov – and for us to receive the effects of the Brachos, we would need to attain the heights of Yaakov. Therefore, Hashem made Yitzchak have the intentions of blessing Eisav, so that we should always be worthy of those Brachos – though we can’t attain the heights of Yaakov, we’re still better than Eisav, of whom the brachos were intended for.
