VORT ON THE PARSHA
פרשת ויגש
Parshas Vayigash
ויגש אליו יהודה ויאמר בי אדני (ויגש מד:יח)
And Yehuda approached him and said: “If you please, my lord.”
We could learn from these words how to approach our Teflilah – prayer:
When a person wants to approach Hashem – “ויגש” – in prayer, he should not think lowly of himself.
On the contrary:
- He should say – “ויאמר”
- I have in myself – “בי”
- A holy neshama – “אדני” – a חלק אלוקה ממעל – a heavenly portion that is part of the One Above.
This gives the feeling of connection to Hashem, so when Davening, one is more reassured that he is being listened to.
