Vort on Parshas Lech Lecha
ויקח אברם את שרי אשתו ואת לוט בן אחיו ואת כל רכושם אשר רכשו (לך יב:ה)
Avraham took along his wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, and all his belongings.
Why does the Torah mention that Avraham took along his wife, belongings, etc. Isn’t it a matter of fact that when a person moves, his family and belongings come along with him?
The posuk shows the greatness of Avraham Avinu. Typically, when one moves, he visits the prospective destination beforehand to check if it’s suited for his family and then follows with the move with his family. In this case, Avraham Avinu didn’t do so. As soon as Hashem told him לך לך to move away from Charan, he trusted in Hashem with his great בטחון, picked himself up with his family and all his belongings, and went to Kenan.
As it states ואברהם בן חמש ושבעים שנה בצאתו מחרן – Avraham was 75 years old when he left Charan.
75 is the gematria of בטחון.
