Vort on Parshas Chayei Sara
ותקח הצעיף ותתכס…(חיי שרה כד:סה)
She took the veil and covered herself.
A Yid once lamented to the Bilgoray Rav tz’’l that he doesn’t have parnassah. The Bilgoray Rav knew that this Yid’s wife wasn’t too stringent in tznius – modesty, and he told the Yid: “If your wife is more diligent in her dress code, I promise you that you will be blessed with earning parnassah – livelihood easily.” He continued that proof for this Bracha is in parshas Chaya Sara where it says: “ותקח הצעיף ותתכס” – the word צעיף stands for עמך ישראל צריכים פרנסה – Jews needs parnassah.
A צעיף- a veil personifies modesty – when one does ותתחס – adorns themselves – with modest clothing, they become worthy of plenty parnassah.
