פרשת קרח
Parshas Korach
רב לכם בני לוי (קרח טז:ז)
It is too much for your Offspring of Levy.Rashi asks the question: How come, Korach, a clever person, should do such stupidity as to stir up the whole of Klal Yisroel against Moshe Rabeinu? Rashi answers: עינו הטעתו his eye fooled him. The numerical value of the word “עינו” is 136 – equivalent to the Gimatriya of the word “ ממון – money.” Says the Chida: Korach was blinded by his lust for money; his quest to become richer led him to fall into this trap, ultimately costing him his life and his entire family. We learn from here that money can blind a person unless one knows how to resist the lure of chasing after money purely to increase one’s wealth or status.
