VORT ON THE PARSHA
פרשת חיי שרה
Parshas Chayei Sara
שני חיי שרה (חיי שרה כג:א)
The years of Sarah’s life.
Rasha explains that “כולן שוה לטובה” – all Sarah’s years were equally good.
But were all her years perfect? Sarah faced many hardships—she was childless for ninety years, experienced famine, had to wander from land to land, and was captured by both Pharaoh and Avimelech. How can it be that all her years were good?
The answer lies in Sarah’s perspective. Whatever challenges she faced, she accepted with grace and faith, always saying, “גם זו לטובה”—”This too is for the good.” Because of her unwavering trust in Hashem, she saw no hardship as “bad.” In this way, all of her years were indeed equally good.
